Webinar – The Future of Clean Energy In the US: Policy Shifts and Strategic Opportunities

TL;DR: The incoming administration may change federal clean energy incentives, creating both uncertainty and urgency for organizations planning projects. Acting now lets businesses maximize current tax credits, secure funding, and advance solar, storage, and efficiency initiatives before potential policy shifts.

In this webinar, we will discuss the future of clean energy incentive programs under the Trump Administration and how customers can still pursue financially viable projects

When a new administration enters the White House in the United States, changing government policies bring both new opportunities and potential risks to existing funding programs. As we look ahead to the next four years, many are now wondering – what does the incoming Trump administration mean for the future of clean energy?

Changes in leadership and legislative priorities can significantly impact the availability and structure of grants, incentives, and tax credits designed to support clean energy adoption. Existing programs like the Investment Tax Credit and other incentives made available through the Inflation Reduction Act have had a tremendous positive impact on making clean energy solutions cost-effective. The new administration has indicated that they will be making changes to these programs going forward. With the current funding secured but subject to review and adjustment very soon, the timing is critical for organizations currently considering clean energy projects for their properties or portfolios.

Now is the time to take action on pending project opportunities – solar PV, battery storage, electrification initiatives, efficiency measures and more are all subsidized to encourage adoption and make projects increasingly economic. Moving forward now allows organizations to maximize available tax credits, benefit from favorable terms, and secure funding. While we expect state and private sector clean energy investment to remain and possibly even increase, these federal programs are very lucrative and widely applicable to projects. Existing and ongoing targets will not disappear and the private sector will want to keep the momentum of existing investments and the overall benefits of clean, distributed energy assets.

There are a number of reasons to move forward on projects in the near term to avoid the uncertainty that comes with any new administration. As we move into 2025 and look ahead to long-term strategy, there are many opportunities to continue making projects cost effective by reducing associated soft costs, regardless of federal policy shifts.

GridMarket understands the incentive landscape and is here to help accelerate development timelines and secure available funding, as well as support your strategic future planning, ensuring that you protect current investments and continue towards meeting energy targets.
